DIFFICULT CASES

Complex Implant Cases

Depending on the condition of your teeth and jawbone, a standard approach is not always possible. Open each item below to see what these situations involve and how they are approached.

Diagram of implant structure
01When revision surgery is needed

When an existing implant has to be removed, careful re-assessment is needed to account for bone loss and the risk of nerve damage. We review the bone with 3D CT imaging before planning treatment.

The existing implant was removed, the bone re-assessed and a new implant placed.

Inflamed tissue around the failed implant was cleared and revision surgery carried out with bone grafting.

02When another clinic has said it would be difficult

Even if you have been told that treatment is difficult because of a medical condition or insufficient bone, a detailed assessment can show what options are available.

For a patient with a history of osteoporosis, the jawbone was assessed in detail before bone grafting and implant placement were carried out together.

03Immediate implant placement after extraction

Extraction and implant placement are carried out on the same day, reducing both anaesthesia and the number of visits. Whether this is possible depends on the condition of the surrounding bone.

04Sinus lift

In the upper back jaw, the maxillary sinus often leaves too little bone, so the sinus floor must be lifted and bone grafted in a precise surgical procedure.

With insufficient bone beneath the maxillary sinus in the upper molar region, a sinus lift and implant placement were carried out together.

05Bone grafting and ridge augmentation

Where jawbone is insufficient, bone is regenerated using autogenous or synthetic graft material before the implant is placed. Depending on bone volume, placement may be simultaneous or staged.

06Same-day implants

In suitable cases, extraction through to a temporary restoration can be completed in a single day. This is not possible for everyone, and we advise after a detailed assessment.

073D guided implant surgery

Position and angle are planned in advance through 3D simulation, allowing placement that safely avoids nerves and other key structures.

08Front tooth implants

Appearance matters especially for front teeth, so planning must consider the gum line and the bone condition together with great care.

09Implant-supported dentures

When a full set of implants is too much to take on, a small number of implants can secure a denture, improving stability and chewing function.
